can anyone help me overcome my fear of public transport please ???

when ever i go onto public transport i brake into a sweat, my hands get clammy and the fear just rises up in me.

KC - Going into all the specifics of working through a phobia cannot be done in the space we have but I will tell you what I tell others regarding facing fears. First I highly recommend a book, that is not expensive, called The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook by Dr. Edmund Bourne. It will take you into detail about dealing with a fear and how to approach it. You will learn tools that will aid you as you work through the fear. In my opinion the most important one is relaxation breathing. You must also learn the procedure for progressive exposure, something we often call "baby stepping" in which we approach a fear by breaking it down into small doable parts and we practice each step until we are able to do it....one step then leads to another, then another. The book will show you exactly how to make a plan to do this. What I have described to you is what we learn in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy...and its not hard at all to learn.

Please know that many of us face these kind of fears every day and have been able to work through them. You are not alone.
