Hitch-mount bike carriers: I ask for your experiences/advice about what to buy?

What I need to know:

Are the clamp types or strap down types better at preventing "sway" during transport?

Is a stop plate a very important asset in preventing bikes from swaying?

Is a dual arm better than a single arm?

Your help is most greatly appreciated.

I have a Softride Access Pull-Pin Rear Hitch Rack, which is excellent. There's minimal drag on my SUV, the dual arms are very sturdy, the optional locking arm and hich lock guarantee that my bikes are safe when we stop at restaurants. I prefer the rubber straps over clamps for sheer 'grip' on the bike's frame. Rubber straps are adjustable and fit all frames (even my mongo Canondale frame). I bought the model that lowers the bikes to the ground, this is a big plus for my wife.
