Donating Blood at 17??
I wanted to donate blood, but need some information i couldn't find on the redcross website.
Can I go and donate blood without a parent signing off for me? I'm 17, but It seems sorta unusual that they don't need a parents permission. I just don't want to drive there, only for them to ask me if I brought my parent with me.
They ask you about medical history, so should I bring an isurance card or other information? What sort of things do they want to know about my medical history?
Thank you. =)
You don't have to bring a parent. They used to bring the blood drive buses to my high school when I was younger. It's not really that unusual.
As for what they would ask in your medical history it would consist of: Do you currently take allergy medication? Have you taken acetaminophen within the past 48 hours? Do you have a history of blood clotting problems? What blood type are you? Do you have any STD's? Do you have AIDS? Have you ever had sex with a man *if you're a man*? Have you had a tattoo within the past two years? And the like. It's pretty straight forward.
