Help with restaurant decor please?
i've just bought a restaurant and am in the process of refurbishing it. the walls are buttermilk, the floor is oak, the bar is black marble and the chairs and tables are black gloss (chairs have cream leather seat pad) im having cream linen on the tables.
Do you think black linen napkins will look rubbish, too much black? Too morbid? i know its not life or death, but this restaurant is taking over my mind and every detail counts! Any decor advice appreciated.
thank you x x x x x x
ps it's not in london - don't know why i picked that category.
You might consider bringing in an 'accent' colour to break up the black and cream because you're right - too much black can be a bit much, especially when people are trying to have a laid-back meal with their friends.
Maybe try introducing a metallic colour like silver or bronze? Or something neutral like chocolate brown which is warmer and less stark than black, and might also go well with the oak floors.
Make sure the light is right too - not too bright and not too dark, but welcoming and atmospheric. Perhaps using candles or uplighters, rather than harsh overhead lights.
Good luck with your new restaurant
