Why is it most humans forget we are animals too?

Homo Sapians evolved along with all other animals, so why is it we think we are superior to them? If we are then is it not our moral obligation to protect them and our planet? I do not believe we are superior to them, in fact we relay on them so much they are all in fact superior to us, if all other animals were to be wiped from the surface of the planet what would we do except die!? We are parasites upon this earth, we need to learn our place!

By referring to us as parasites on the earth, you too are forgetting we are animals.
When a beaver damns a river, they doom much of the wildlife downstream, but you
wouldn't say they are a blight on the planet. We and our technology are just as natural
a part of the earth that created us as any other animal.
