How to & how long to charge a lead acid battery?
I bought a Panasonic Lead Acid 6V and 12V batteries, and I bought a power supply. The info of the power supply is "Full Wave 3V-12V: 6 Amperes" Specs: Input 110V-220V, Output 3V-12V, and Rating 6 Amperes. So if i charge a Lead acid Battery 6V or 12V, How long, how many hours?...
A lead/acid battery will have a charge capacity (let's call it C) measured in ampere hours. A small to medium 12v car battery for example will have a capacity of around 40 ampere hours. You will need to know that number to determine the charging time. Note that this capacity is pretty well directly related to the battery's physical size. You can charge at any current up to about 5A, ideal being 2A or less. If the battery is completely discharged, then the time T, in hours, to recharge it is simply T = C/A where A is the charging current.
