Can I carry a motorscooter on the fork of my camper?

I have recently become partially disabled and I need to use a scooter to travel any distance while at a campground. I have a 21 foot camper that I pull behind my explorer. I would like to take my 300 pound scooter when I go fishing with my grandsons. I was advised by the camper seller not to put a rack on the back of the trailer to carry the scooter but it may be possible to build a flat rack on the front fork of the trailer for the scooter. Problem is: my turning radius will be limited while pulling the camper with the scooter in place. Can I extend the hitch bar about 12 to 18 inches to increase my turning radius? I do not have the financial means to get a new camper or to make costly modifications. I'd appreciate any advise so I can continue to enjoy camping and fishing with the kids while I'm still able. Thanks

You'd be adding 300 lbs. of tongue weight on your hitch. You need to find the specs for the hitch on your tow vehicle, find the tongue weight of the trailer plus the 300 you're adding and make sure it isn't too much. If it is you can buy an equalizing hitch which uses torsion bars to transfer that tongue weight forward to the explorers frame. They're a bit expensive but that's the easiest solution.

Thanks for looking at our Scooter Trailer Rack information.
