Find the area of a trapezoid given the base and leg?
I have a trapezoid with the top base is 32 and the bottom is 22. The legs to the side of it are both 13.
I know to find the area of a trapezoid the formula is A = h/2(b1+b2) but I cant figure out the height in order to solve the formula/problem.
Can someone help me out?
so far i have A = h/2 (22+32)
A = h/2 (54)
What is the height so i can divide that by 2 and multiply it by 54
Try drawing a picture to scale.
There's only one way to do it, and you'll be able to visualize it better.
Remember a trapezoid has the base and the bottom are parallel.
Since both sides are 13, you have an isoscelese trapezoid.
You'll end up with a right triangle where you have measurements of the hypotenuse and one of the legs, use pythageorian to figure out the remaining leg (which happens to also be the height of the trapezoid)
