Do I have bad shocks?
My car (subaru) is all-wheel drive. The back tires wear down MUCH, MUCH faster than the front tires. I get regular alignment and wheel balances. I need to rotate frequently so the tread doesn't wear out completely.
Could this be bad shocks? Whenever I go over bumps at highway speeds, the back end feels like it takes a hard hit. A thump with little cushion.
I've tried the basic bounce test, and the back end does not bounce up and down more than twice. So I'm not sure if its the shocks, sway bar bushings, or what.
Do people read?
I clearly said I already did the bounce test, and its all-wheel drive.
Bouncing twice is too much. With todays modern independant suspensions as the tire goes up and down it scrapes side ways on the pavement. Much more than with solid axles. A good grade of shock absorber will reduce the up and down travel, reduce tire wear, and improve handling.
You said alignment and tire pressure were correct.
